A Hells Canyon Adventures tour is more than a trip. It’s a must-do experience that people from all over the world travel to brave. It’s a chance to disconnect from the busy, tech-heavy world around us and reconnect with nature, friends, and family. There’s nothing like running Hells Canyon rapids and feeling the excitement of challenging this awesome river. We guarantee you’ll walk away with an incredible memory you will talk about for years.
We believe Hells Canyon is one of the true gems of the West. It has been our inspiration, our refuge, and our livelihood for more than 50 years, and we want our guests to experience it the way we do — wild, untamed, and with a healthy appreciation for its power and history.
We do this by making the canyon as safe and accessible for everyone. We know that time is precious; our job is to offer our customers priceless reconnection.
Nope! Our jet boats offer plenty of seating, and we never pack them over capacity. We run multiple boats and intentionally limit guest numbers, so everyone has room, enjoy the views, and ride in comfort. Think relaxed adventure, not sardine style.
Great question and the answer is not like you think! 😎 Our boats have over 1/2 fully covered for shade, and on hot days our captains are pros at keeping things cool… often by adding a little splash of river fun (unless you’d rather stay dry—just let your captain know, no promises!). With open sides and an open front, there’s always a refreshing breeze flowing through, even on those 100°+ summer days it’s comfortable, and fun guaranteed! You will always have plenty of opportunity for swimming and playing in the river.
We make regular stops along the way, so there’s no need to “hold it.” And if nature calls urgently, the captain and crew know the river like the back of their hand. We can pull over for a quick pit stop and get you right back to the adventure—stress-free and smiling.
You bet and it’s one of the highlights! We keep you well fueled with plenty drinks and a freshly made deli-style lunch complete with chips, a cookie.
Even better, where you eat is part of the adventure:
On our Salmon River tours, lunch is enjoyed right on a beautiful river beach or at China Bar Lodge.
In Hells Canyon, we stop for lunch at the historic Sheep Creek Cabin or a spectacular riverside location.
Great food, incredible scenery, and zero effort on your part—just sit back, relax, and enjoy the moment.
Absolutely the wildlife sightings are always a big hit! Along the river, you’ll most often spot bighorn sheep, goats and bald eagles, and if you’re lucky, you might catch glimpses of bears, otters, or osprey.
We love aiming for the ultimate “hat trick” of sheep, eagles, and bears and more often than not, the river delivers. While we can’t promise exactly what you’ll see, one thing’s for sure: Idaho’s wilderness is full of unforgettable encounters, and your camera is going to thank you. 📸
Capture every splash and scenic moment! We love when guests bring cameras or phones but remember this is a wilderness jet boat adventure, so things can get wet. We highly recommend a waterproof case for more expensive cameras, modern phones are usually splash resistant, just don’t drop it in the river, keep it secured.
We encourage you to snap away, but safety comes first, so while your photos can be epic, we can’t guarantee your device will stay bone-dry or dropped in the river.
Keep it casual, comfy, and adventure-ready!
Check the weather first! Be prepared for whatever the day throws at you, sun, wind, or a sudden splash of river water.
Summer days: Shorts, a t-shirt, and a hat are perfect.
Cooler days: Pants or shorts and a light waterproof jacket will keep you cozy.
Swimming suits: Great for the hot days, but we recommend wearing clothes over them.
Your adventure might include swimming, beach time, and hikes or walks historic sites, so wear layers and sandals or shoes that can handle a little exploring. And don’t forget every passenger wears a life vest during the bigger whitewater sections, keeping safety and fun at the forefront!

Even though I’ve never booked a trip with them, seeing how their crew jumped into action to rescue that downed pilot in the canyon last summer spoke volumes. It’s clear the folks at Hells Canyon Adventures have real integrity and a heart for helping others. That kind of selfless character is more than enough to earn my business! Good on Dillon and the rest of the team. The world needs more of that.Posted on Google![]()

Booked a full day jet boat tour leaving from Hells Canyon Dam for myself and my 10 year old son. We had an amazing time! Our guide was very knowledgeable. The provided lunch was delicious and filling! Despite the smoke from the surrounding wildfires, the views were gorgeous and the rapids were thrilling! Highly recommend HCA!Posted on Google![]()

We had wonderful half day tour on the jet boat. Cody, our captain, was fabulous. Great day all around. Tip: stay in Halfway to be only about 1.5 hours drive away.Posted on Google![]()

I have not used their service but just watched the YouTube video where they rescued and helped the pilot that crashed in the canyon in summer 2025. You can tell in the video that Hells Canyon Adventure's team are genuine good people willing to go out of their way to help a stranger. That alone would make me give them my business! Plus, riding the river looks awesome!Posted on Google![]()
